Expoacaire

Along with our Region XII DRC, Ross Montgomery, I recently had the pleasure of attending Expoacaire 2009 hosted by Asociación Colombiana del Acondicionamiento de aire y de la Refrigeración (ACAIRE) in Cali, Colombia.  The president of ACAIRE, Camilo Botero, was an excellent host and Claudia Mandez, the executive director, put together a truly fabulous event.  We were honored to be invited and thoroughly enjoyed every minute!

At one of their sessions, we officially recognized the Colombia Section of ASHRAE and installed their president, Fabio Clavijo.  This meeting also gave us the opportunity to speak to the Colombia Section and many members of ACAIRE about ASHRAE.  Ross shared the education opportunities ASHRAE offers and there was definitely interest in the certification programs from the group!  We look forward to seeing many of the members at our upcoming Winter Meeting in January.

In addition to our time as Expocaire and in ACAIRE meetings, we also took time to explore Cali.  Cali is a gorgeous city in western Colombia that lies at the base of the Andes.  Views of the mountains can be seen throughout the city which boasts a population of over 2 million.  The local cuisine was a delicious treat and nearly every restaurant we visited was naturally ventilated.  We had an amazing time in the city and look forward to visiting Bogota and Bucaramanga in the future!
