Student Activities

Student Activities is off to a great start as the UCF Senior Design Competition is now up and running.  Due to overwhelming student interest, we’ve added four more students (14 total) to the competition this year.  These students hope to continue UCF’s strong tradition of success and they have a lot to live up to.  Last year’s students won 3^rd Place!

The ASHRAE UCF Student Branch is also very active.  Seven students were present at our September chapter meeting where they listened to Distinguished Lecturer Dr. Victor Goldschmidt.  Dr. Goldschmidt also visited UCF and spent time with the students, giving them leadership insight from his years of experience.  Finally, the students toured UCF’s “LEED Silver” Physical Sciences building.

Students will be selling ASHRAE Polo Shirts in conjunction with our annual fall golf tournament. You can purchase them on the Chapter Website or at our October meeting for $45.

Our K-12 outreach event, “Bring an Engineer to School Day” will take place on Wednesday November 18 at Frangus Elementary School.  This OCPS annual Teach-In Day program gives ASHRAE members the perfect opportunity to share the careers they love with local children.  You can sign up to volunteer by emailing ashrae.sa@gmail.com.
