Technology Award Winners

Congratulations to all of the Tech Award entries submitted. First place goes to the following companies submitting for awards this year.

Category: Commercial Buildings—New Construction
Category goes to X-nth, Inc. for their submission on the Ritz Carlton Hotel in Charlotte, North Carolina. The project consisted of a 19 story LEED gold certified project comprised of 120 deluxe rooms, 30 suites, a full service salon and spa, gourmet dining, and a green vegetated roof design.

Category: Commercial Buildings—Existing Construction
Category goes to Peninsula Engineering for their submission on the Sanford International Airport, Sanford, Florida. The project consisted of an energy retrofit including upgrading the lighting systems that qualified for utility incentives of approximately $7,652. Demand control ventilation was implemented on the existing air handlers and controlled by the new building automation system and several automatic plumbing fixtures were installed in high traffic areas. The over all projected energy savings is expected to save approximately $425,500 per year in annual savings.

Category: Healthcare Facilities—Existing Construction
Category goes to Peninsula Engineering for their submission on the Winter Park Memorial Hospital, Winter Park, Florida. The project consisted of the replacement of the inefficient boiler system with a new improved efficient boiler system. Three of the 5 existing chillers were upgraded from the R-11 refrigerant with the latest available environmental friendly refrigerants and design corrections and upgrades were completed on the chilled water pumping and piping systems. Additionally modifications were implemented to improve the temperature and humidity to the occupants.
