Members, Central Florida ASHRAE and your community need you. As we all know, we are the best ambassadors for our chosen profession. Practicing Engineers can wow laypeople with the products and processes that we work with daily . That is why I would like to request volunteers for Orange County's Teach-In 2004 event on Wednesday, November 17. You needn't volunteer an entire day if you don't like, but just one class period to help encourage the proliferation of our profession. You can simply speak about what you do, or offer a mystery design for a hands-on activity, or choose a topic for a lecture. If you are interested, please fill out the attached registration form, including the school location where you'd like to volunteer, and fax (or mail it ) to the address and phone number at the top of the form. Please consider this, a bit of inspiration in the early years can carry on toward a lifelong career for a student. In addition, those with kids often have opportunities to participate in parent days, where you get an opportunity to talk with your child's class. I strongly suggest you take this opportunity to again influence a child to peruse a career in Engineering. If you participate in a parent day at your child's school, or in the Orange County Teach-In program, please notify me via email at RDProden@Trane.com so our Central Florida Chapter can receive the credit we deserve. Thanks, Ron Proden Student Activities Chair |
