History – Chapter Timeline

June 21, 1962

The Central Florida Chapter of ASHRAE was founded with 70 area assigned members. Chapter geographical boundaries stretch as far north as Ormond Beach, as far south as Vero Beach, eastward to the Atlantic Ocean, and westward to Leesburg and Lakeland.

November 1-3, 1972

The Chapter hosts its first Region IV Chapters Regional Conference (CRC) in Lake Buena Vista, FL.

January 11, 1979

Originally part of ASHRAE Region IV, the new Region XII was formed containing seven chapters:  Jacksonville, Florida West Coast, Miami, Central Florida, Gold Coast, Puerto Rico, Southwest Georgia, and the Gulfstream Chapter.

October 15-17, 1980

Central Florida hosts the 1980 Region XII CRC at the Hi-Q Quality Inn in Orlando, FL.

September 13-16, 1989

Central Florida hosts the 1989 Region XII CRC in Orlando, FL.

June 1994

Central Florida is the host chapter for the 1994 ASHRAE Annual Conference in Orlando, FL.

 March 6, 2003

The Chapter holds its first Annual Shrimp Boil at the Winter Park Farmers Market. This event has replaced our March technical meeting and continues to be one of our best attended events all year. Attendance numbers regularly reach 200-300 people.

January 2005

Central Florida is the host chapter for the 2005 ASHRAE Winter Conference in Orlando, FL.

January 23-27, 2010

Central Florida is the host chapter for the 2010 ASHRAE Winter Conference in Orlando, FL.

August 19-21, 2010

Central Florida hosts the 2010 Region XII CRC at the Rosen Centre Hotel in Orlando, FL.

January 23-27, 2016

Central Florida is the host chapter for the 2016 ASHRAE Winter Conference in Orlando, FL.
